Sunday Pickleball Continues

A total of 26 players attended the 1st Sunday Session, including five from the Cottonwood area; two from Clarkdale and a visiting couple from Michigan.  Two new players joined the roster and the remainder of the players were regulars.
(EDIT added 8 AM, May 19) -- Camp Verde Pickleball Sunday Sessions are now well established. Play is now from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM in the Community Center Gym.)

McCulla & Parsons
Sunday Indoor Pickleball has arrived! The 2 hour sessions of drop-in pickleball have been successfully conducted from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, beginning Sunday, January 22 and continuing through Spring in the Camp Verde Community Center Gym.

Three regulation indoor courts are set up and typically kept fully occupied for the entire 120 minute session.  There is no fee to play.  Paddles and balls are available to use.

We created a Kiddie Kort on the gym's old performing stage are.  During winter on any given Sunday, there were usually at least 4 children enjoying the Kiddie Kort.  During Spring Summer and Fall, the Kiddie Kort will only be set up "on demand". Typical Sunday attendance during the winter averaged around 24 players.  Current Spring usage is less but still offers enough players for some good pickleball action.

The January 22nd Camp Verde Pickleball Sunday Session was an experiment to see if there would be any interest with Camp Verde and Verde Valley pickleball players. Interest shown was a resounding success so the Sunday Sessions will continue. Many THANKS to Jerry P. for his volunteer to help cover future Sunday Sessions.

Camp Verde Pickleball volunteer coordinator John Parsons and Susun McCulla have been  delighted with the Sunday Sessions so far.  Parsons & McCulla's last  Sunday Session was April 30.  Volunteers Bobby and Sandy are available to carry the Sunday sessions forward through the Spring, Summer and Fall until we return in early November 2017.

We are currently using the standard paddle line up for player rotation through each court as it opens and becomes available.

CV Bugle News Article

The Camp Verde Bugle newspaper published a fine Vyto Starinskas photo feature on Camp Verde Pickleball in the January 6 edition.  A note appeared on the front page and half of Page 3 was devoted to Vyto's pickleball photos.  Comments are located below each photo.
Above is a photo of the front page of the January 6th issue.  Note the ample space the Editor gave to the pickleball note.
Photographer Vyto Starinskas captured an exceptional image and the Editor correctly keyed into that image for the front page notation.
Here's graphic of the entire photo layout.  As usual, Vyto captured great images that truly capture the action.
Here's a larger version of Vyto's photo of Snow Bird Jerry Peasley returning a volley.  Pickleball is notorious for being a "hard to photograph" sport.  By setting up the background to utilize Camp Verde's endearing mural in the Community Center gym, Vyto put together a great frame.  Vyto's depth of field control and his camera's excellent shutter speed really produced an outstanding piece of work.  Way to GO, Vyto!!!!
